Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA) recognises the formation of the Crisafulli Government’s Resources Cabinet Committee (RCC) as a significant step forward in ensuring Queensland’s resources sector continues to thrive while advancing toward a low emission future.
The RCC’s focus on streamlining approvals and enhancing certainty for industry stakeholders will provide a supportive environment for fostering innovation and investment in low emission technologies.
“The establishment of the RCC is a key step in delivering economic growth alongside meaningful emissions reduction across Queensland’s vital resources sector,” said Mark McCallum, Chief Executive of LETA.
“This Committee creates an opportunity for government and industry to work together to implement solutions that align with Queensland’s net zero ambitions.
“With the establishment of this Committee, Queensland has an opportunity to lead by example, leveraging cutting-edge low emission technologies to support sustainable growth while addressing the urgent need for emissions reduction.
“Queensland is uniquely positioned to adopt low emissions technologies in critical sectors of the economy like resources, manufacturing and heavy industry.
“The coordinated approach promised by this committee will be vital in overcoming challenges, attracting investment, and achieving the state’s net zero targets.”
LETA looks forward to working with Premier the Hon David Crisafulli, Minister for Resources and Mines the Hon Dale Last, and Minister for the Environment and Tourism the Hon Andrew Powell to advance technologies such as ventilation air methane (VAM) abatement and other emissions reduction solutions.
LETA remains committed to partnering with government and industry to deliver the innovative solutions required to secure a prosperous and sustainable future for Queensland’s resources sector.
