Download media release

Low Emission Technology Australia (LETA) and The Prairie Research Institute (PRI) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are launching a partnership to address global greenhouse gas emissions through the acceleration of groundbreaking net zero technologies.

Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), LETA and PRI will drive advancements that target both climate change mitigation and sustainable economic benefits for communities worldwide.

This collaboration includes a range of initiatives aimed at directly addressing emissions reduction. By integrating expertise from both institutions, the partnership will explore new approaches to critical climate challenges with an emphasis on delivering local economic and environmental gains, including for communities with limited access to sustainable technology.

Mark McCallum, Chief Executive of LETA said the MoU signals the organisations’ shared commitment to a net zero future. “LETA is proud to have formalised a working relationship with PRI and we look forward to exploring innovative emissions reduction solutions together.”

“We’re thrilled to embark on this partnership with LETA, aligning our strengths to make measurable progress toward global sustainability goals,” said Kevin O’Brien, director of the Net-Zero Center of Excellence. “Together, we aim to bring cutting-edge solutions to the forefront and demonstrate that impactful climate action can also drive economic benefits.”

The five-year MOU includes options for renewal, underscoring both organisations’ dedication to a sustained impact. Future announcements will detail specific projects and updates on this joint mission to advance net zero technologies.
