LETA Submission: Offshore carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) under the Environment Protection (Sea Dumping) Act 1981

LETA has lodged a submission to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) on its draft Offshore Carbon Capture and Sequestration National Action List (Offshore CCS NAL), draft National Assessment Guidelines for Offshore Carbon Capture and Sequestration (NAGOCCS) and draft updated sea dumping permit application form.

LETA’s submission addresses specific aspects of this package of material, and complements our engagement with the DCCEEW and CSIRO on various aspects of the draft Offshore CCS NAL. LETA has coordinated its response with the CO2CRC¹, Global CCS Institute (GCCSI²) and the CCUS Network Australia (CCUSNA³). This submission also follows on from our 7 June 2024 submission on the Interim Offshore CCS NAL.
